International Compliance Association and ITN Productions present:

The true cost of financial crime’

The International Compliance Association (ICA) has partnered with ITN Productions to create ‘The True Cost of Financial Crime.’

Presented by UK national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, the flagship news-style programme will explore the impact criminal activity has on both businesses and individuals. We will showcase the importance of the compliance function as an enabler of ‘good’ business through education, advice and providing solutions, and will highlight the successful work of regulatory and financial crime compliance professionals.

Limiting criminal activity through bribery, corruption, money laundering, human trafficking and fraud is an ongoing battle in the financial sector and beyond. Risks to the global system are huge but for every ‘big picture’ incident, there are real people affected.  ‘The True Cost of Financial Crime’ will highlight the human impact of crime and the key role compliance professionals can play in preventing this.  Exploring areas such as effective cyber security, bribery and corruption, sustainability and the environmental risk and human trafficking, ‘The True Cost of Financial Crime’ will show the work going on to reduce criminal activity and to protect both customers and organisations; and will also explore what consumers can do to protect themselves against online fraud.

Drawing upon ITN’s 60-year heritage and expertise in storytelling, the news-style piece will combine interviews and reports with sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations and will premiere in April 2019.

Helen Langton, Managing Director, ICA, said: “The traditional view of compliance was that of rules, regulations and saying ‘no’ to the business. These days, compliance is at the heart of the organisation and plays a key role in managing risk and delivering commercial advantage. But this sits against the backdrop of ‘doing the right thing’. Compliance professionals shoulder a lot of responsibility but also have a great opportunity to do good – something this film will showcase.

Elizabeth Fisher-Robins, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the International Compliance Association to create The True Cost of Financial Crime. We hope this programme highlights the importance of the compliance function and the successful work of compliance professionals and helps stimulate discussion on the pertinent issues the profession faces.”
