The ICA Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Governance, Risk & Compliance has been specifically designed as an advanced programme for mid to senior industry practitioners.

*The IBF accreditation status is currently accorded only to Module 1 of the ICA Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance. The other subsequent modules would be evaluated separately based on each module's fulfilment of the accreditation 

Entry requirements

Language Requirement
At least a C6 at 'O' level English

Academic Requirement and/or Work Experience
Possess an ICA Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance or ICA Diploma in Anti Money Laundering/Counter Financing Terrorism, hold a first degree and have at least 3 years working experienced in a related discipline and currently work in a role that includes mid-senior level responsibilities (i.e. mid-senior compliance role) and has regular engagement with mid-senior practitioners


Possess minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a compliance or compliance related function*.

*It is expected that individuals working at this level will have a first degree.

  • Organisation chart

If you do not have a current job profile, you will need to draft a paragraph summarising your previous job role and the position that you held in the firm.

The ICA Professional Postgraduate Diploma provides additional surety, certifying the professional standing of individuals as senior practitioners in GRC roles, but can also be used as a platform for attaining higher-level qualifications.

How will you be assessed?

You will be assessed through two methods:

1) submission of six Reflective Journals (2,000 - 2,500 words, one for each module plus a Capstone Reflective Journal which is an executive summary of the programme)

2) attendance at a Professional Discussion (oral examination) interview

You will need to be deemed as competent in all elements to be classified as competent overall. Each of the 5 modules require a competent grade for the reflective journals, the Capstone Reflective Journal and the professional discussion (oral examination) interview.

Designation upon completion

  • ICA Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance which is awarded by ICA in association with Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester
  • Eligible to be certified as 'IBF Advanced' (Level 3) under the Institute of Banking and Finance Standards (IBFS) subject to the IBF certification criteria
