The ICA launches the ICA Advanced Certificate in Business Compliance for Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia

29 January 2018

The ICA Advanced Certificate in Business Compliance is being offered for the first time in Slovenia from February 2018, in partnership with the European Institute of Compliance and Ethics (EICE). The course has been designed to meet the growing demand for highly skilled and qualified compliance professionals working in financial services and other regulated sectors.

This intermediate-level course, which is awarded in association with Alliance Manchester Business School, the University of Manchester, will enable compliance professionals, working across a wide range of sectors including, but not exclusive of, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, telecommunications and manufacturing, to gain a deeper understanding of the compliance function in a practical business context.

The course launch in the region is designed to help meet market challenges. The most significant challenge is that of the maturity of compliance programmes in general, which currently ranks as low. Companies within the region, in countries which include Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia, are operating at an international level, and are thus exposed to international expectations and standards of business compliance. EICE have been pivotal in closing the gap regarding specialist education in compliance. Professionals in the region are ready to go to the next level, and the ICA Advanced Certificate in Business Compliance provides a basis for compliance specialists to champion their knowledge and skills, as well as providing demonstrative evidence of their professional commitment and advancement to their career with a recognised international certificate.

Bill Howarth, ICA President, states:

‘ICA is committed to ensuring that compliance professionals working in all sectors have expert knowledge and skills in order to undertake their roles with competence and professionalism. Organisations that embrace a culture of compliance also realise genuine commercial benefit from reduced costs, enhanced reputation and retention, and acquisition of both customers and staff. As ever, we are delighted to be working with our local partner, the European Institute of Compliance and Ethics, ensuring that best practice compliance becomes the international benchmark.’

Andrijana Bergant, President of the EICE, states:

‘EICE first created and started to support local compliance community in Slovenia in 2014. Our idea was to enable individual professionals to connect to peers and exchange experiences in our region, in order to bring their practices closest as possible to international best standards. Furthermore, EICE wished to fill the gap regarding lack of high quality education in compliance in Slovenia and near region, at the time when profession started to evolve quicker and requirements from business and every stakeholder towards compliance function started to increase. We are very pleased to be able to take both the compliance networking and professional development for the benefit of our community to the higher level with such a respected and experienced organization as International Compliance Association.’
