Philip Ryley
Philip is a senior solicitor (admitted 1987) and head of the Financial Services & Markets Practice at Michelmores Solicitors based in Exeter and London. He specialises in FSA regulatory issues that affect banks, life & pensions companies, mortgage lenders, general insurers, fund and asset managers, networks and intermediaries, including representing firms and senior managers in contentious compliance issues, enforcement proceedings and civil actions.
Philip is an Associate of the Compliance Institute and a former Councillor.
Philip is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Planning and has the Financial Planning Certificate. He is also a member of the Personal Finance Society and the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers. Philip is also a board member of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI).
Philip is a monthly contributor to various compliance and industry journals, including Compliance Monitor (Informa). He is a contributing author to various books, including 'A Practical Guide to the FSA's Regulation of Mortgages' (City & Financial), The IFA's Guide to the FSA Handbook' (City & Financial) and 'Mortgage Regulation for Intermediaries' (Tollet Publishing) and is co-author of the 'Compliance Officer's Handbook' (LexisNexis). Philip also authors the regulation column for Financial Adviser.
Philip frequently facilitates senior management workshops for clients and associations and is also a regular speaker at various industry conferences.
