Julian Parker
Julian Parker trained in a UK clearing bank and later moved into merchant banking. For much of his initial career he focused on private secured lending, followed by some project work and then risk management, which forms a natural link into compliance and anti-money laundering.
Julian qualified in 1995 as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (now the Institute of Financial Services IFS) and was elected a Fellow in 2000. He has served on the IFS Guernsey Centre Committee for 10 years as Secretary and is currently President.
He has been involved with the Guernsey Association of Compliance Officers since joining the Committee in May 2000 (GACO was formed in the summer of 1999) when he took on the role of editor of the bi-monthly newsletter. Julian has been Chairman of GACO since April 2001. He has sought to build membership support for meetings and strong links with the GFSC (Guernsey’s regulator), GIBA (Guernsey International Business Association), the FIS (similar to NCIS in the UK), the Police (Commercial Fraud & External Affairs) and the Data Protection Commissioner.
He is a member of the Compliance Institute in the UK and became an Associate in July 2001 and was elected a Fellow in April 2002. He is also a member of the Guernsey Joint Money Laundering Steering Group.
